Bible Studies
Coffee Break Bible study is an interfaith Bible study for women to meet in small groups to share questions and concerns. No previous Bible knowledge is expected. Coffee Break meets on most Thursday mornings from 9:30 to 11:00. Whether a beginner to the joy of Bible studies or a long time student of God's word, you will be able to nurture your faith at Coffee Break. Presently the groups are studying the book of John.
Story Hour is for children age 3(by Sept. 1) to children age 5 years old. The children enjoy a time of Bible stories, singing, crafts, and snacks at the same time as the Coffee Break Bible study meets. Children under the age of 3 will be lovingly cared for in our nursery with age appropriate toys and an electronic mommy pager system.
Thursday evenings there are small groups for women at Evening Coffee Break Bible study and for men at Men's Life Bible study. An informal buffet dinner is available from 5:30pm to 6:15pm. Bible study 6:30pm to 7:30pm. Both groups are studying the book of John for six weeks, starting October 5, meeting each week, except for a week off on October 19. The last evening meeting is November 16. Another 6-week study will be scheduled in 2007.
Adult Sunday school classes meet at the church most Sundays, from 9:00am to 10:10am. Andrew Minnatelli is teaching a class titled "How Beautiful the Feet - Recovering Radically God-centered Evangelism". The modern "gospel" often preached in today’s evangelical circles has little, to no, mention of sin, repentance, or any definition of true saving faith. As a consequence of many preaching a watered-down, man-centered gospel, is it any wonder that this century has seen the rise of the seeker-sensitive movement, the emerging church movement, and the falling away of many mainline denominations into serious error? The only effective bridge between our postmodern world and true Christian discipleship is proper evangelism. Join us this term as we recover the Biblical Gospel of Jesus Christ, and learn how to effectively use it to proclaim the truth in love to our lost and spiritually confused postmodern world.
A New Member's Class is held periodically for those who would like to learn more about the church, make profession of faith, or to become a member of the church. This class is also an excellent review for anyone. The class covers a brief look at the history of the Christian Reformed Denomination, the confessions we hold to and talk in detail about what it means to be justified, sanctified, and a member of a local church. Pastor Glenn Gerdes leads this class.
There is also an early morning Men's Bible study group. They meet most Wednesday mornings at 6:00am at the church.
